( STICKS )
What Are Sticks? What are sticks? Sticks are those things you find on trees...oh, you mean what are they on here. Of course you do. Sticks are equal to currency on the site as well as in the cat's world. They are not the same thing as what are found everywhere on the ground that fall from trees. These are special sticks. In the cat's world there are three kinds: gold, silver, and copper. Copper sticks are the easiest and the most common among commoners though they are worth the least amount in terms of currency. Gold is the rarest, only found in the royalty families, though some do seep into the cities currency as well since the royalty still do need to buy items at times though something that has a cost that high is rare. Silver will be the common used currency besides copper in the royalty and because of this quite a bit of it has spilled in the city's currency.
How do I earn for them for site items? I see, you must be referring to the sticks you see in your mini-profile. Sticks as you will notice are not gained through posting, that would be too easy and would promote spam. No no, it will take more work than just that to earn these lovely sticks. Some ways areas followed:
Finishing a thread (10 sticks)
Finding a mate (8 sticks)
Making a Friend/Enemy (5 sticks)
Recognition from a member (15 sticks)
Recognition from staff (20 sticks)
Adding a feline to the City's Wanted List (15 sticks)
Adding a feline to the Raliette's Wanted List (25 sticks)
Using the Quote of the Week in character (look below)
Replying to someone's open thread (first reply only) (5 sticks)
Forming a creative plot (10 sticks)
Forming a creative plot with more than 1 other member (15 sticks)
Creating a new family of Truslinia (8 sticks)
Adopting an already created name of a family (5 sticks)
Random events (mystery amount)
Contests
More ways to earn them will be added, those are just some of the starting ones we are going to handle.
Staff reserve the right to deny some sticks if they feel anything in character was rushed or if something does not reach their expectations.
You mentioned the Quote of the Week as a way to gain sticks, but how would I do that? I don't know about you, but I haven't seen a quote of the week on sites quite like this. They might have them more as a of the month type of feature where it comes from a thread and character on the site, but that is not how this one works. Every week on Monday I will update the quote of the week. It will work similarly to the "word of the week" that some sites have where they give you a word and a definition and you can use it to earn site currency or credit. However, the quote of the week isn't as straight forward in a couple of the ways you can use it. You can simply have your character quote the quote of the week to get sticks and if you do, you will get two sticks. However, there are two others ways to use it. One is to have a thread with a message/theme based off the theme/message of the quote. Get creative there and get inventive. If you choose to use it this way, each member in the thread that adds to it will gain five sticks. The other more complicated way to use it is to have a series of threads where the theme/message is based off of the theme/message of the quote. By a series I mean three or more threads. If the quote changes before the series is done, then you will be given credit for the quote that was in use when you started the first thread...since that would have been your original theme/message. Using this use of the quote of the week will earn everyone participating in the threads five sticks per thread. It's a good way to build up sticks, but it obviously takes time and commitment.
You said member/staff recognition can earn me sticks. What do you mean? This is probably one of the most simple ways of all to gain sticks. If a member PMs the staff and claim you are being a polite, wonderful member of the site and feel you deserve some sticks in their name, then you shall be awarded with fifteen extra sticks! However, a member can only do this once per member and we actually do need a reason! I don't want to see members giving each other recognition for no real reason just so they can help others get sticks. I do not want to see anything in the 'stick for stick' category either. This is a way for members to reward one another for being active, please don't abuse the privilege. Staff will also be able to give you recognition if we see you posting actively in character, continuing creating wonderful characters/plot, and interacting with other member nicely and fairly.
Wait wait wait, you said random events? Haha, yes, I believe I did. By which I mean you never know where they might pop-up. They might be something sudden in the c-box like, "the next person to post here receives __ sticks" or it might be an image somewhere on the site that will till you to PM me to redeem a certain amount of sticks and there might be a catch on the image one. They will appears suddenly and may also disappear suddenly. If you think there is an event going on do not tell others about it! Everyone must find it out on their own and it will help you as well depending on what the event is. Just keep looking over the site every now and again and you might just see one gong on.
Can I lose sticks? It's rare, but yes you can indeed. If staff believe you to be rude or irritating other members constantly, or see you breaking a rule and we've already asked you to stop, we just might remove some sticks in response. There might be very rare events that will cause everyone (including staff) to loose some sticks (no more than 5). However, as I said, those events are rare and chances are, you might not see them happen very often.
You mentioned in character sticks...how do I know how many sticks my character has? There is no real way for you to know, but I am from the opening of the site going to trust everyone to know to be responsible and not go crazy like, "Sussie is handing out free gold sticks because she feels like it!" Be realistic with it and if characters should only buy things like food and cloth items (blankets, rags, etc) in character. If you want to buy jewelry or other accessories, you must buy permission in the shop or have been given permission by staff through some sort of contest.
If you have any other questions on sticks, please PM them to Jeopardy.
