( OATHS )
In the world there are a couple ways that felines can pledge to be telling the truth with others having a good idea that they speak the truth. Those two ways are either by swearing an oath on the name of a god the feline follows, or a lot more reliably, by swearing a blood oath.
SWEAR BY A GOD
For an oath on the name of a god only works if the feline swearing follows the god. The gods do not like their names being used lightly, but there is not much they can do against a feline that doesn't like them at all. Meaning, if a Fahrin feline swears on Zerachiel's name, chances are you know they are lying. Every god though, has their own way and own degree of punishing their followers that do go against the oaths the feline swore on their name. It doesn't matter who the oath breaker is in hierarchy...anyone is fair game.
SHAKTI
Shakti, being a little more kind than the other gods as well as being the lowest ranking god along with her brother Sarosh, doesn't do a whole lot with those that break an oath in her name - at least no directly. She chooses to make sure that bad luck comes their way and will not allow anything good to happen until they come to her shrine and ask for forgiveness.
SAROSH
Sarosh, although in the same ranking as Shakti, is not nearly as forgiving as his sister. If someone breaks an oath in his name, he also gives them bad luck, but it's not nearly as minor as the bad luck that Shakti causes most of the time, but rather felines are always out to kill them and they will not be forgiven, even if they come begging to him for it. An oath on Sarosh's name is worth more because of the higher level of danger than an oath on Shakti's name.
GUINEVERE
Guinevere has a little more power than the two Drestine gods. She will cause the feline that breaks an oath with her name to go loveless for the rest of their life and for those that don't care whether or not they have love, they will find it and then loose it, feeling that emptiness for the rest of their lives. With enough faith and begging, Guinevere may come to forgive her followers depending on the oath that was broken to begin with.
ZERACHIEL
Zerachiel...you do not want to break an oath with Zerachiel's name attached to it. This is especially serious because no-one believes a Raliette's word straight off, so they need something to ensure others know they speak the truth, but they don't use this oath lightly. If anyone dares to break an oath on his name, they will die by the day's end (of the day they broke the oath). Therefore, they cannot even ask for forgiveness and Zerachiel never would give it to them...not even to the Head of Raliette.
SWEAR BY BLOOD
A god's oath is good enough for most situations, especially for the House felines, but when it comes to Truslinia felines...it's not s reliable. A feline can follow a god depending on what House they prefer, but that is a not set in stone and strangers may not be able to tell whether or not they really fall for that god or not. A family name can help, but that is not always true to what they believe.
That is what the blood oaths are for.
When a feline swears by a blood oath, you know that it is true and blue. No-one can ever stop a blood oath and they cannot avoid the consequences when they break an oath by blood. To create a blood oath, they must swear by putting their blood in their soul they stand while they speak the oath. No blood to go along with the words, then the oath has no standing.
But when one breaks the blood oath, their blood will boil from the inside out until they die the slow, painful death. It's a death no feline wants, but know will come when one breaks this oath.
